At the Gbenga Odugbemi Scholarship Fund (GOSF), we (GOSF) take your privacy seriously and we are committed to ensuring the security, confidentiality, and integrity of every personal information you give us, or we collect from you. As a result, we have prepared this Privacy Notice to explain to you how we process your personal information provided to us.

Who we are

GOSF is a scholarship fund created to provide scholarships to certain students, currently undergraduate law graduates from Nigerian universities. We aim to expand the scholarship fund to other graduates (beyond law graduates) as time goes on.

When you access or use our website, personal information is collected to either Submit an Application, or Contact Us for general information, or Become a Donor. We collect your personal information primarily in the following ways:

Personal Statement Contract performance, and legitimate interest This may not necessarily contain personal information, but when they do, we use that information to understand your scholarship (and financial) need.
Admission Letter Contract performance, and legitimate interest To validate your application information, and the identity of Applicants.
Financial-related data Contract performance, and legitimate interest To process the sending and transfer of scholarship funds to you when your application is successful.
Other relevant information Contract performance, and legitimate interest We strive to minimize collected data, and any other relevant information would be collected to advance the scholarship application, validate provided information to GOSF, or your identity, etc.

Information we collect based on your use of our website

Whenever you access our website, we may collect information that is related to your visit, use, or access of our services like your internet protocol (IP) Address, page interaction information, the time and date when you access or use our services, your browser and operating system, the area where you are accessing or using our Services from, etc. This information is collected to enhance your experience and improve our services. All of the cookies on our webpage are strictly essential.

Purpose of processing your personal information

Generally, we will use every personal information we collect from you to provide the services you have requested from us, and will not use such personal information for other (secondary) purposes without first informing you and obtaining your consent where necessary. We ensure all of our uses are compatible with the primary purpose for which they are collected as listed above.

We may use the personal information obtained from you whenever you access or use our website or services via our website in the following ways:

  • – To process submitted (scholarship) Applications;
  • – To ensure the smooth operation of/ our website, services, features, and ensuring security;
  • – For data analysis and statistical reports to maintain, sustain, provide support, protect, and enhance our services;

Except as provided by law or in line with the other lawful bases stipulated by law, we shall not disclose, sell, lease, rent, license, or share your personal information in our custody with anyone or a third party without your consent.

In accordance with the applicable data protection laws, we will not store your personal information longer than it is reasonably necessary for the purposes it is collected and processed under this Privacy Notice. As soon as that purpose ceases, we will delete your personal information.

We may delete or erase your personal information from our custody where you exercise your right to erasure, or you withdraw your consent and where there is no legitimate reason for us to keep your personal information.

  • (c) the right to rectification: you have the right to ensure that any or all inaccurate or incomplete information with us is rectified.
  • (d) the right to erasure: you may request that any or all your information with us is deleted when there is no compelling reason for its continued processing;
  • (e) the right to restrict processing: you have the right to restrict the processing of your personal information as prescribed by law;
  • (f) the right to data portability: you may request to receive, free of charge, a copy of your personal information in our custody in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable format or have us transmit the information directly to another entity (if this is technically feasible).
  • the right to object: you possess the right to object to the processing of your personal information generally as prescribed by law. Each objection request would be treated peculiarly;
  • (h) the right to lodge a complaint with a Supervisory Authority: you can lodge a complaint about our privacy practices, or the exercise of any of your rights concerning your personal information as stated in this Privacy Notice, with the applicable Supervisory Authority in your jurisdiction;
  • (i) the right to withdraw consent: where consent is the legal basis for processing, you can withdraw your consent to our processing of your personal information at any time by contacting us via the channel outlined in this Privacy Notice.

Yes! We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against accidental or unlawful destruction, loss, change, or damage.

Whenever we effect these changes, we will notify you by posting a notice at the top of our Privacy Notice page on our website.
